After a long discussion on the club’s policy regarding the encouragement of young members to join up it was resolved to accept the generous offer of Messrs B. B. Jones, F. H. Sharland. W. A. Kenning and the secretary, of the free use of necessary equipment until such time as young members could provide for themselves. It was resolved that it be a recommendation to the Executive Committee to fire the annual musketry course early in the season. Several members deplored the fact that for several seasons past the club has had very few team competitions with other clubs. The secretary was therefore asked to get in touch 'With other clubs with a view to arranging inter-club matches. It is hoped to arrange these matches early enough to enable the committee to fit them into the programme of the season.
The secretary said that he saw no reason why the local Territorials could not fire competitions of their own on the same ranges tha tthe club was firing over. It was resolved that the secretary interview the Area Officer with a view to developing more competitive shooting amongst Territorials and Cadets. Votes of thanks were accorded the retiring president, secretary and treasurer for their work. Mr Sharland was specially thanked for his very fine work in assisting to raise funds for the new range. The competition next Saturday will be a shoot over 300, 500 and 600 yards. 7 shots at each, for the Wastney Cup and Wilkins and Fields’ trophy.
