Sub-Inspector Fox, asking for a remand to 10th October, said that Graves walked into the police station at 11.30.
Mr R. A. Singer, who appeared for Graves, said the latter had offered himself to the Auckland gaol last night, but was refused admission as the place was closed. Mr Hunt: “Wouldn’t he pay his board?” Sub-Inspector Fox said the police had no intimation that he had gone to prison. Mr Singer: “It shows his good intentions, anyway.” The remand was granted.
