ACCIDENT AT TAKAKA

MR JOHN WINTER INJURED KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR (By Telegraph—From Our Own Correspondent.) TAKAKA, This Day. An elderly resident of Motupipi, Mr John Winter, farmer, had a fortunate escape from serious injury when knocked ’down in the main street of Talcaka on Saturday evening at about nine o’clock. Mr Winter stepped into the street near Kirk and Co's, store to cross to his car parked on the opposite side, but came into,contact with a car driven by Mr • -R. C. Shaw Thompson, dentist, of Takaka. Visibility was bad at the time, with drizzling rain, causing the street surface to reflect the light.

Mr Winter was knocked pncoq.scious, but after treatment’at the Takaka Hospital was able to proceed home. He sustained minor cuts and bruises, and is reported to be suffering from shock.
