WESTMINSTER HOSPITAL

NEW BUILDING ON NEW SITE (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 27th June. Handsome donations are announced to the fund for rebuilding on a new site Westminster Hospital and Medical School. Westminster was Britain’s first voluntary hospital and dates back to 1719. The present building, whose accommodation is inadequate, and whose situation on a broad estuary opposite Westminster Abbey is no longer suitable owing to the noise of increasing road traffic,, is over 100 years old. Several gifts to the scheme exceeded £IOOO and one from a well-known benefactor, Mr Meyerstein, amounted to £IO,OOO.
