OBITUARY
SIR FREDERICK ALLEN (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 27th September, The death is announced of - Sir Frederick Allen, vice-chairman of tlie P. and O. Company.
Sir Frederick Charles Allen was aged 70 years. He was for 25 years in the East, and represented the P. & O. Steam Navigation Company in Bombay, Calcutta, Aden and Ceylon, returning to England in 1910 to take charge of the Blue Anchor Line which had just been purchased by the P. & O. Company. Subsequently he became assistant manager of the latter and at the time of his death he was vicechairman and a managing director. He was also a deputy chairman and a managing director of the British India Steam Navigation Company and a director of Messrs Delmege, Allen and Company. The late Sir Frederick Allen was chairman of the council of the Shipping Federation; chairman of the National Maritipic Board, Thames district committee of the Shipping Federation, and the National Council of Port Labour Employers. He was a past president of the Chamber of Shipping, a past president of the National Confederation of Employers’ Organisations, and a member of the Port of London Authority.

HARRISON AUCKLAND, This Day. The death occurred this morning of Mr S. M. Harrison, Chief Postmaster at Auckland since j. 931, aged 54 years.
