CHILDREN TAKE CHARGE

WILD SCRAMBLE FOR TOYS INCIDENT AT. SYDNEY SHOW GROUNDS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 22nd December, 11.0 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Breaking through a police cordon, 12,000 screaming children rushed wildly in a frantic quest for toys at a big Christmas party fit the show ground. Police and officials’ strenuous efforts to restore order were unavailing. The children, out of hand, grabbed toys of every description from the stalls, and from one another. Hundreds of mothers who were not admitted tried to force their way into the ground. Large numbers of children were lost. Filially the unidentified kiddies were paraded in front of the mothers. Scores of, children, suffered minor injuries, The reason for the stampede is believed to have been due to the kiddies being kept standing waiting too long for their liking for the distribution of the toys.
