SHIPPING INTERRUPTED MOVEMENTS OP ANCHOR BOATS The Anchor Shipping Company’s motor vessel Alexander, which was due to arrive at Onehunga from Motueka last Monday, was not reported _ till noon to-day when news was received that the vessel had crossed the bar into Onehunga at 11.30 a.m. The heavy westerly that has been prevailing has only just now moderated, allowing shipping to proceed. The Alexander leaves Onehunga to-morrow for Ricton and Nelson. The Rata which has been held up in Greymouth since Saturday is expected to clear the bar to-day for Tarakohe. The Titoki, which had been barbound at Wanganui, left that port last night at ; midnight for Lyttelton. The Taupata left Napier on Monday evening for Wellington, but owing to the severity of the weather put back to Napier. She cleared that port to-day tor Wellington. The Gabriella, which was bound from Auckland to Greymouth, and got within 30 miles of Westport on Monday was forced by the gale, which was of hurricane force, to shelter at Totaranui. She was able to proceed to-day to her destination.
