ACTION BY BANKS (By Telegraph—Preßs Association) AUCKLAND, flrd August. Owing to a shortage of half-crowns,, the banks in Auckland are restricting the issue of silver of .that denomination with the object of building up a reserve of half-crowns for the busy Christmas season.

No definite maximum lias been fixed and regular customers of the hanks are being supplied as usual. Casual customers are being asked to accept silver of other' denominations.
