CRASH OF BRICKS

CHIMNEY STRUCK BY LIGHTNING FAMILY'S PROVIDENTIAL ESCAPE (By Telegraph—Press Association) THAMES, 2nd August. During a storm lightning struck the kitchen chimney of a house at Turua, causing the bricks to crash through the roof into the room below. The mother, Mrs Gray, had set dinner, and she and her four children had a providential escape. The stove was blown into tbo room, the table was smashed to matchwood by the bricks, and rain poured in through a gaping hole above. Mrs Gra v was struck on -the shoulder by falling debris, and a sou was pinned to his chair at the table. Except for a severe shaking, however, no one was injured.
