HILLS FRUITGROWERS’ UNION
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE VARIOUS MATTERS DISCUSSED A meeting of the executive of the Hills Fruitgrowers’ Union was held at Mr Forsyth’s house on Wednesday evening, those present being: Messrs E. F. Nottage (cliairnfan), J. 11. Brunt, J. Dicker, A. Forsyth, and J. W. Hall. The annual report and balance, sheet to be presented at the forthcoming annual meeting were approved and arrangements made to hold the meeting at Mapua on the 26th instant,. A number of remits were discussed and it was decided to send them on for inclusion in the business agenda which will he placed before the delegates at the annual conference.
On the motion of Mr Forsyth it was decided to bring before the annual meeting the desirability of purchasing a section. in a central locality and making arrangements for the erection of a suitable building for the Mills Union. It was unanimously decided to suggest to the Fruitgrowers’ Federation, “That in consideration of the values obtained for exported fruit, and also remembering the fact that the Federation has in. hand funds amounting to 6d per case on all export, the sum of Is (ono shilling) per case he made immediately available to all exporters.” Tn referring to the deputation from Hie Hills Union which waited on tho VVaimea County Council to request that the corners on the Mapua-Applehy road he eased and made safe for the public. Mr Hall stated that it gave him much pleasure to move: “That the Executive of the Mills Union pass a hearty vote of thanks to tho Waimea County Council for the despatch and efficiency with which the work on the Mapua roads is being carried out.” Mr Hall said that in this instance it gave him more than ordinary satisfaction to commend tho Council for its good work, as in tlie past he had been called upon to adversely criticise its action or rather the want of action in connection with local reading repairs. The motion was seconded by Mr Dicker and carried unanimously. Members present expressed their thanks and approval at tho capable manner in which the chairman and secretary had conducted the numerous meetings of the Union, and trusted both Mr Nottage and Mr Forsyth would again stand for re-election at the forthcoming annual meeting. A vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Forsyth for hospitality brought the meeting to a close.
