“TILLY OF BLOOMSBURY"
XEXT WEEK’S PRODUCTION BY NELSON AMATEURS
The rehearsals of “Tilly of Blooms* hury,” the English comedy to ho presented by members of the Nelson Amateur Operatic Society at Motucka. on Tuesday and at Nelson on Thursday and Friday of next week, have been going on very satisfactorily, and a run through last evening, witnessed by a “•Mail” representatives, went with a swing which promises a most successful performance. "Tilly of Bloomsbury,” u refreshing three-act comedy by lan May, when played first in London was an outstanding success, running for a season, of 700 nights, and ever since has been well received whenever produced. The Nelson Amateurs’ choice of play was fortunate for it is a cleverly-witten, clear entertainment with a delightful contrast of characters. The second act, particularly, is crammed full of bright dialogue and most laughable situations. Nevertheless a skilful treatment of the story has introduced glimpses of real life and pathos. There are a number of netv performers who will he making their first appearance on the stage, and they can be classed as “finds” for tlio Society. Others are old favourites—Miss B. Aydon, Mrs Stevens, Mr A. K. Griffith, Mi- A. R. Kingsford and Mr D. Eckhoff. The others in the strong cast are Misses M. Crichton, E. Jamieson, Everett. Gamboni and D. Rouse, and Messrs W. Alexander, E. Berry, J. Mitchell, Johnson, and Beveridge. The box plan is at “Snapshots,” and no doubt the fine comedy selected by the Society should attract large patronage.
