TAWA FLAT DEVIATION

TUNNELLERS’ W 7 AGES (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, 2nd May. The Hon. W. B. Taverner announces to-day the Government’s decision to increase the rates of pay to tunnellers engaged at Tawa Flat deviation to enable the men to earn from 18s Cd to 21s a day instead of 10s previously decided upon. The higher rate of 21s is for work done in the advance headings. The decision has been conveyed to the union and the Government is awaiting its decision.
