NIGHT IN OPEN DITCH
WELLINGTON WOMAN’S EXPERIENCE (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Unable to stir from the water, into which she had fallen, Mrs E. J. England, 6f Newlands, aged 76 years, spent all of Saturday night in an open ditch. She was not 'found until 14 hours after her fall, and was then taken to hospital where her condition is reported as satisfactory. Setting out to visit friends shortly before 8 o’clock on Saturday evening Mrs England walked across some paddock’s and fell into a ditch partially 'died with water, which covered her body. She was unable to raise herself from it and was forced to wa't until help came. Tt was not until TO a.m. veslcr day that a passing cyclist heard wrao groans. Investigating he found Ties England in the ditch and suffering from exposure and shock.
