THE KING
FIRST LEVEE SINCE ILLNESS SIX HUNDRED GUESTS (British Official Wireless) RUG BY. 27th March. The King to-day at Buckingham Palace held his first levee since his illness. Six hundred guests comprised officers of the navy, army and air force, politicians and civic dignitaries. For the first timo the King received the Soviet Ambassador, Sokolnikoff. The previous lovee which Sokolnikoff attended was held by the Prince of Wales. His Majesty departed from his usual custom of standing. He sat on a golden throne under a canopy of gold, fimwncL ed by great officers of State. The King and Queen will laid fiv« courts this year on account or 1 t! e large number of applications for premutation. It is authoritatively pointed out that the reappearance of the King at royal courts is a definite indicatbn tint he is completely restored to r-o'inal health and can carry out his usual routine wi'hout interrupt! n.
