TOURIST TRAFFIC

EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD THIS

YEAR

(By Telegraph—Special to "The Mail")

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

The tourist traffic was exceptionally good this year, stated the Minister in charge of the department; the Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, in an interview last evening. The department was now arranging tours to the southern lakes and Mount Cook for Australian tourists. Full particulars of the trip, including the cost, are available in Australia, and it is hoped to popularise the tour. By efforts in that direction and the appointment of a trade commissioner in Canada it is hoped to treble the tourist traffic in New Zealand. The Minister stated that there had been many inquiries about the tourist attractions of the country from overseas.
