FOOLISH ADVERTISING “STUNT”
AT' AN AUCKLAND THEATRE

AUCKLAND, This Day,
There were many tense moments in the Regent Theatre when an advertiseing “stunt” for a coming attraction was too realistic for the greater part of the audience. The orchestra had just com-pleted-a number, and as the applause died away the theatre reverberated with a terrific explosion behind the lowered curtain. Every light in the theatre went out, and the screams of women were heard. There were further rumblings above which could be heard women screaming and moaning in an alarming manner. Numbers rose from their seats, but there were no lights over the exit doors, and many people tumbled over one another in efforts to get out of the theatre.
The noises on the stage increased and were followed by a second explosion, which caused yet more screams. Suddenly the place was lighted up, and it was at once seen that tho whole affair was merely a piece of “stunt” advertising-
