MAGISTRATE'S COURT

TO-DAY'S BUSINESS The usual sitting of the Magistrate's Court took place this morning before Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following civil cases: Francis Graham Eobertson v. Arthur Louis Higgison, costs only £2 0s 6d; William Carrol Harley v. Charles E. Durant £2 Is, costs '£l 3s 6d j Guiseppe Moro v. Robert Patterson, costs only £2 7s 6d; Frank Kingdom Turnbull and John Glasgow v. Mark Hvland, costs only £2 3s. MOTORISTS AND CYCLISTS . For leaving a motor lorry without lights in St. Vincent street at night Alfred Ernest A. Fear was ordered to pay costs only. Thomas Martin was charged with two offences (1) with riding a bicycle at 'night without a light (2) with having no red reflector. On the first charge he was fined 5s and costs 10s, and on the second charge ordered to pay costs only 10s. John McCauley and H. Simpson were penalised in thesame matter for similar offences. J. M. S. Scott, ,for riding a bicycle at night with no light, was fined 10s with costs 10s. Because he was unable to produce his motor driving license when called upon to do so by a constable W. Thompson was fined is and costs 10s. The same defendant was fined 10s with costs 10s tor having his number plates obscured bv mud.
