Speaking at Warrnambool with regard to railway retrenchment, the Premier, Mr Hogan, said the Railway Department and closer settlement activities had become financial catastvophies. The State was losing a million sterling on these activities. Motor competition was a serious thing for the railways. There is much opposition in union circles to the railway retrenchment proposals.
