LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

The' Legislative Council met' at 11 a.m. to-day. The Insurance. Companies' Deposits Amendment Bill, the Public Works Amendment Bill, the Palmerston North Library Empowering Bill, and the Napier Harbour Board Empowering Loan and Constitution Amendment Bill were received from the House of Representatives, and read the first time, and the two latter measures were referred to (he Local Bills Committee. The Education Reserves Amendment Bill was committed, and put through its final stages and passed without amendment. The Council ■ adjourned at 12.13 p.m. until 3.30 p m.. to-day.
