Hides are very active and bidding is Strong, with values unaltered. AMERICAN WHEAT CROP (Received 10th June, 9.35 a.m.) WASHINGTON, 9th June. The Department of Agriculture indicates that the winter wheat production will total 537,000,000 bushels, which is 72 per cent of the normal. The Secretary of Agriculture, Mr Javdine, expresses a hope for better prices for wheat than has hitherto prevailed. He points out that this year’s yield will be lower than the 1926 estimates, indicating that the crop will be. 33,000,000 bushels less, and new estimates expected shortly will increase the diminution. This shortage will naturally tend to increase prices. There has been some, drought in Oklahoma and Colorado, hut in other parts of the west which lie visited on his recent trip, the crop i 3 good.
