DEPUTATION TO GOVERNMENT PROGRESS LEAGUE AND "FILL TjJE GAP” Mr 11. Atmore, M.P., has received the following letter from the Prime Minister (the Hon. J- G. Coates): —“With reference to your recent interview with me in company with Mr Hudson. M.P., regarding the request- that 1 should receive a'deputation from the Nelson Harbour Board and the Progress League: I desire to inform you that. 1 shall be pleased to receive the deputation on Thursday, 23rd instant at 11.45 a.m. I understand from you that the Progress League desire to urge the necessity of pushing on with the Glenliope-Murehison railway construction. May 1 say that 1 cannot add anything to my remarks on this question which 1 made when both Mr Hudson and youself waited upon me in conjunction with the Puller Progress League last week, namely, that ihe Government fully recognise that, this work has to he completed but. that any further indication of the Government's programme in connection with this and other works must wait until the Public Works Statement is submitted to Parliament during the present session.”
