At the Oval,' Middlesex scored 445 (M, W. Lee J 26, J. W. Hear no 108. E. Hendrcn 83) against Surrey, S. Fenley capturing live wickets for 115 runs. In the, first innings Surrey have lost five wickets for 239 (A. Sandliain 112, D. R. Jardine not out 86). Kent defeated Sussex at Hastings by an innings and 122 runs. Sussex scored 165 in the first innings (Gilligan not out 60), and in the second the side were about for 118. Kent bit up 435 in the first innings (J- Bryan .128, J. Seymour 76, I'’. E. Woolley 108). Lancashire, playing against Essex at Blackpool, scored 209 in file first innings (11. Makepeace 100, C. T. Ashton taking four wickets for 26 run;,. lit the second innings Lancashire secured ISO (C. Hallows 50), A. B. Ilipkin also capturing four wickets- for 26 runs, which on this occasion, included the hat-trick. Essex scored 130 in the i-r-st innings, R. Tyldosky capturing tour wickets for 45 runs.
