WAIMEA COUNTY AFFAIRS
i'To the Editor ) Sir, —Councillor Hewetson may squeal and grunt as long as he likes but he will never alter tlie fact that his semi Biblical remarks include ratepayers generally in Motupiko and Wangapekn ridings. The deputation was appointed' at general ratepayers meetings and under the auspices of tbo Farmers’ Union and for the time being represented those ratepayers, so any remarks made about, the deputation, natuiallv meant the ratepayers of the two ridings. As one of the deputation, 1 may say that personally the remarks have not annoyed mb because J take it that any uncalled for remarks rebound on the person uttering them, but lam surprised that the acting chairman of the Council, when the subject was brought up at the last meeting, did not insist ori the Councillor, who had broken all rules of etiquette, withdrawing his remarks. The old saying that' “birds of a feather (lock together” is naturally remembered, and I should imaging that there are some gentlemen in the Council who refuse to come into line with Councillor Hewetson’s remarks and manner—at least- one would hope so.—l am etc. , J. ANGLESEY. Lianlferne, ' Tadmor, 12/8/24.
