W.D.F.U. Meeting

NEW MEMBERS WELCOMED

Mrs W. H. Eder and Mrs Holbrough were welcomed as members of the Woodend-Waikuku branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union at its November meeting. The secretary was instructed to write a letter of sympathy to Mrs J. Durie, whose husband is ill.

Correspondence was received, and also an invitation to all members and their friends to attend a garden party to be held on Friday afternoon at Mr S. Wright's residence in aid of the local Plunket funds. The sum of £1 was voted to the fund for a Health Camp at Itangiora. A one-act play, humorous in character, was read by Mesdames D. t 7. Archer, A. Quinn, H. Hoskins, A. Smith, and Misses E\ Burnett and Gwen Little, and after afternoon tea a second play, also very amusing, was read by Mesdames H. Hoskins and H. Burnet and Miss Ives. Both plays were produced by Mrs J. Little. Competition winners were Misses 3 : . Vaughan and K. Cox (embroidered aprons), Mrs P. McQuillan (flowergarden on a dinner plate), Mrs W. Churchill and Mrs J. Ballinger (best blooms). The hostesses were Mesdames P. Maddison, F. Moore, G. Little, H. Little, C. Morris, Misses R. Liggett, G. Little, and M. Monkman.
