Dedication of Rangiora Cemetery SALE FINALISED YESTERDAY As no definite decision about the dedication of the neAV cemetery Avas made at the last meeting of the Rangiora Borough Council, the “month of grace” given on March 1 expires Avitliout further developments from official or unofficial sources. Dedication Avill iioav be delayed at least until after the Council’s next meeting, set doAA r n for April 28. The form of dedication is a very simple matter. The Council advertises that the land is dedicated, and dedicated it is. Nothing more has been heard of a rumour that the Council Avas to be approached Avith an offer for an exchange of land. Borough’s Expenditure on Cemetery TO BE FINANCED FROM 55-YEAR-OLD LOAN Rangiora Borough Council Avill have no difficulty in arranging to finance its share of the cost of the neAV cemetery site. In 1882 the Council banked £65 on fixed deposit. This money Avas set aside for cemetery purposes, and has remained untouched to this day. In the 55 years, compound interest has increased the amount of the deposit from £65 to £450, an amount AA-hich Avill easily meet the Council’s share of the purchase costs, and Avhieli Avill also go far toAvards layout and mantenance expenses.
