N.Z. Ladies Championships
INVERCARGILL, Thu. (Sp.).—The weather was fine and mild and the course In perfect order when the 46th New Zealand ladies’ golf championships opened on the Otatara course, Invercargill, this morning. The first match was the inter-island and again honours go to the North . Island. Results:
Mrs Jackson Ball (Wanganui) lost to Miss Z. Hudson (Christchurch), 3 and 1; Miss R. Hodges (Auckland) beat Mrs J. Dolan (Otago), 1 up; Mrs H Murray (Miramar) beat Miss Valmai Fleming (Christchurch), 7 and 6; Mrs G. W. Hollis (Titirangi) beat Mrs W. A Scott (Timaru), 2 and 1; Mrs B. Fullerton-Smith (Marton) beat Mrs J. E. Salisbury (Timaru), 1 up; Miss M. Hughes (Titirangi) beat Miss H. Buchanan (Christchurch), 2 and 1; Miss J. Duncan (Wanganui) lost to Mrs H. Topliss (Nelson), 4 and 3; Mrs Glanville (Hamilton land Mrs N. D. Cullen (Invercargill) all square. The defeat of Mrs Jackson Ball, present New Zealand title holder, by Miss Zoe Hudson, and the first half in 36, one under bogey, recorded by Mrs H. A Murray, former Wellington provincial champion, in the inter-island match provided full interest for both players and spectators.
In addition to the excellent score returned by Mrs Murray, Mrs Ball (38), Mrs Cullen (38), Miss Hudson (39) and Miss W. Hughes (39) also carded good figures for the first .line holes.
