Veteran Golfers' Tournament

Play In the Northland Veterans’ golf tournament was continued at the Mt Denby course today when the second round of the Veterans’ Cup was the main attraction.

No. 2 Flight had reached the semifinal stage. The first round of the No. 1 Flight also began for players beaten in the first round of the Veterans’ Cup. Second round: Whitten d Sharpe 2 and 1; Phelan d Brown 3 and 1; Stubberfield d Sehischka 1 up; Galloway d Johnson 1 up. NO. 1 FLIGHT First round: Smales d Maingay 2 and 1; Russell d McDonald 5 and 3; Ball d Heape 1 up; Wiseman d Purnell 3 and 2. NO. 2 FLIGHT Semi-final: Fagan d Staple 1 up; Courtney d Harley at 19th. Bogey match: C. G. Johnson (Pukekohe) won 2 down. Whangarei Club

Morrison Cup (six best net medal rounds from July 18 to October 29); H. M. Davis 407. Davis’ average was slightly under 68 per round. His total included one phenomenal round of 77-16-61. Others: W. J. Glanville 426, N. Walker 426.
