Not Bluffing About Atom'

NEW YORK, Tue. (1 p.m.).—The Soviet Foreign Minister (M. Andrei Vyshinsky), replying to a question at a press conference today, said: "The Soviet Union has atomic weapons and has had them since 1947. "When the former Foreign Minister (M. Molotov) said there was no such thing as an atomic energy secret, the BBC and someone else said that was a bluff.

"That bluff happens to be a reality as Russia has had it in her possession since 1947."

M. Vyshinsky said the Soviet Union stood firm for prohibition of atomic bombs and international control of atomic energy. “This is rather a binding statement on the Soviet Government.” he said Asked why the Soviet Government had not agreed to an investigation of industrial activity to determine what various governments were doing about atomic energy, M. Vyshinsky referred to a document issued on June 11 which, he said, made it clear that the Soviet favoured international control and inspection of atomic energy plants.
