Kremlin Flans War ‘ln Its Own Time ’
LONDON, Tue. (1 p.m.)—The Kremlin was "preparing for war. but in its own time,” said Lord Vansittart, prewar diplomatic adviser to the British Government, in a speech tonight. Addressing the National Liberal Forum on the international situation, Lord Vansittart said lie did not think international control of the atom was practical politics.
"If Russia were to accept proper international control that would entail such an upset of her internal organs and procedures as would almost amount to a counter-revolution and might end in the complete discrediting of Communism.” he declared. Lord Vansittart added: "We must be careful not to rearm Germany against Russia as many faint hearts and panic-stricken people would have us do.
"Democracy must stand on its own feet or fall. “About the wickedest thing that has ever been perpetrated by the Russians is the setting up of Germany in arms.”
