Chinese Sentenced For Island Killing
SUVA, Tue—Found guilty of the murder of William Thomas Allen, a member of the staff of the British Phosphate Commission at Ocean Island, on April 26, a Chinese named Tai Shek was sentenced to death at Suva after a trial lasting a week.
Mr Allen was stabbed to death in a bedroom.
The present trial did not relate to Mrs Allen, who was similarly murdered in the living room. In summihg up, however, the judge said it was possible that Mrs Allen was a witness to her husband’s murder, and could have been pursued and killed while endeavouring to telephone for help.
