NEW MEMBER Mr F. C. Eyles, who had been appointed the Whangarei Borough Council’s representative on the Whangarei Fire Board in place of Mr S. J. Snow, who resigned, was welcomed by the board at its meeting last night. The chairman (Mr R. V. Thompson) and the brigade superintendent (Mr S. V. Fulljames) referred to Mr Eyles’ long service with the brigade. NORTHLAND SCOOT CAMP A Northland Scout Camp is to be held at a site in the vicinity of Whangarei from December 28 to January 7 next. Preliminary arrangements already have been made by the county executive. Patrols from outside districts and training commissioners are to be invited to attend. Costs are not to exceed 30/- per boy. Entrants must hold the Tenderfoot badge, and have done three nights’ camping. A conference of laymen and scouters will be held in conjunction with the camp.

Coloured towels, were 13/6, for 8/11 pair; large linen tea towels 5/6, for 2/11; 80in heavy unbleached sheets, were 62/6, for 39/6 pair; wool bloomers, were 16/11, for 9/11; interlock bloomers 3/6; silk and wool pantees, were 6/11, for 3/11; artist smocks, were 23/6, for 5/11; and men’s oily canvas coats, were 99/6, for 45/-.
