In tl\e final singles today Sitwell beat Dpi Bello 6r-l, 6—l, 6—o, and Sedgman defeated Cucplli I—6, 6—l, 6—2, 6—3. Sjjdwgll was nipre accurate and maintained better length than B? 1 Bello, who made a M o.f errors, despite. an occasional brilliant crosscourt backhand drive, j AMERICAN TEAM Schroeder, Mulloy and Talbert will defend the Davis Cqp against Australia at Forest • Hills on August 26, 27 and 28. The selection was announced today by fee Davis Cqp selection committee. Gonzales, 21-year-old national champion, is the only newcomer to the American team. He is expected to share the singles with Schroeder. The Australian team will be formally announced tomorrow, but it is still uncertain who will play in the singles. American critics praised Sidwell for hip performance against the ItaL ians, but |he Australian team manager (Mr Cliff Sproule) is still considering the possibility of using Bromwich in the singles against the Americans.
