Lord Vestey 's Warning

LONDON, Wed. (1 p.m.)—Lord Vestey today told shareholders of the Union Cold Storage Company that nationalisation of the cold' storage industry could “mean ruin of our country and finally the establishment of a slave state.”

Commenting on the Labour Party plans to nationalise the importation and wholesale distribution of meat, Lord Vcstey said he felt such proposals were only a step on the way to general nationalisation of all business.

His company was confident that if bulk buying by the Government ceased and traders were allowed to buy overseas and sell at home in competition with each other, it would not be long before there were very much larger supplies at lower prices.
