Mon Found Guilty Of Receiving
WELLINGTON, Thu. (P.A.) The disappearance of seven rolls of newsprint from a store in Wellington early this year led to the trial in the Supreme Court yesterday of Edward Brimfleld, 58, labourer, and Charles Daniel Trangmar, 43, carrier. They were charged with stealing the paper and. alternatively, with receiving it, knowing it to have been stolen.
They denied both allegations. The jury acquitted both men on the theft charge and acquitted Trangmar on the receiving charge also. They found Brimfield guilty of receiving.
The Chief Justice (Sir Humphrey O’Leary) discharged Trangmar and remanded Brimfield till tomorrow for sentence.
The paper, valued at £B6/19/6, belonged to the New Zealand Worker Printing and Publishing Company, Ltd., and weighed over two tons.
