Sleepers And Ships For Gomes Crowds
AUCKLAND, Thu. P.A.L—Use of railway sleeping carriages to accommodate southern visitors to the Empire Games in Auckland next February has been suggested to the Railway Department by the Games acommodation officer (Mr W.J.Waghorn). He is also investigating the possibility of passenger ships providing accommodation.
Mr Waghorn said today that it was likely that, a special train comprising 13 sleeping coaches with accommodation for 200 people would run from Wellington and remain here throughout the Games.
One ship to berth here in February could accommodate 300 visitors and it was possible that a second ship would also be here.
Mr Waghorn estimated that hotels and motor camps could already assure 2000 Games visitors of accommodation. Other sources were being investigated.
