Start Work On Nelson State Housing Block

The shape* of things to come is gradually becoming evident ori the Nelson Block. Whangarei, where eventually about 600 state houses will be built. Survey pegs for an access road are dotted across the rolling acres of the block and road formation work will commence as soon as the necessary heavy machinery is available, which should bo within a fortnight. Also scattered about the block are heaps of drainage, water reticulation and sewerage pipes. Ditches for connecting these new pipes with the existing network have already reached the boundary of the block.

Electrical linesmen arc busy removing power poles to make way for the new road. This street will start at the intersection of Cairnfield Road and King Street and will join with an extension of Curtis Street. Other roads are also planned, and will eventually join with Station Road.
