Cherrington And Beazley Impress

SYDNEY, Wed.—Members of the New Zealand Maori Rugby team, who had their first taste of training in Australia yesterday, impressed local sports writers as likely to provide tougn opposition for Australian teams if they succeed in getting rid of surplus weight. Their lack of condition Is not surprising, considering that the majority have had only one or two games this season. /

The backs worked well and showed some speed in passing rushes. The most impressive were N. P. Cherrington, who surprised onlookers by his speed-down the wing, and B. W. Beazlew who showed up well in handling and tactics. The Maoris will travel to Melbourne by train on Thursday for Saturday’s match against southern states.
