Strike Affects Two Ships From U.S.

WELLINGTON, Tue. (Sp.).—A second ship which was to have brought cargo to New Zealand has been affected by the . maritime strike in United States Pacific coast ports. The Waitomo, which was to have loaded during October at San Pedro and San Francisco for Auckland, Wellington and Australia, will sail with cargo from Vancouver only. Previously, the cancellation of the voyage of the Matson freighter Alameda was reported. Farm machinery was to have formed a large part of the Waitomo’s cargo. Advice has been received in Auckland that Pan American Airways has offered some aircraft to the United States Government to carry freight to Pacific Islands affected by the strike.
