Repertory Society Acts Its First Ploys
Two one-act plays were presemea last evening by members of the Whangarei Repertory Society in the Methodist Hall. Bank Street. Both were • fully produced and acted—not just 1 read as had been usual ' in previous productions. j The first was “Novelette” by P. > Johnson, and was produced by Mr H. Field. The second was “The No ’Count Boy” by P. Green, the pro- ; ducer being Mrs Drayton. Both plays! received a good measure of applause, from an audience of members and ■ friends. The play selection committee has an ; interesting programme mapped out for i future ■ productions, projected plays! including “Ladies in. Retirement,” i “Dangerous Corner” and “Private j Lives.” To perform plays of this nature j more males are needed to reinforce ! the few who are carrying the burden ■ at present; if more are not forthcom- j ing the society will have to reduce I the scope of play selection in the fut- j ure. i
