PARLIAMENT

LONDON.—The rejection of the Parliament Bill which seeks to reduce the time during which the House of Lords can hold up a House of Commons measure from two years to one year is urged in an amendment tabled by Lord Salisbury, the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Lords.

The second reading of the bill v/ill be debated on Tuesday and Wednesday. Reuters political correspondent says the amendment ' will be voted on instead of ' a straight vote for or against the bill.

Political circles hold that only a compromise can prevent the amendment from being carried and the bill rejected. In that case, it is understood that the Government will call an extra session of Parliament during the summer to get the bill through the required three sessions in two years for it to become law.
