WASHINGTON. The Justice Department announced yesterday that Jacob A. Stachel, ■ the American Communist Party’s education director, who is a native of Austria, has been arrested in New York for deportation. The grounds for this are that he entered the country illegally in 1931 and is a member of a subversive organisation.
Stachel is one of more than 100 alien Communists who have been arrested in the past few months and held for deportation. They cannot be deported until the Justice Department complies with the new law and holds special hearings.
