Firemen Carry Woman From Fire

AUCKLAND. Fri. (P.A.).—On the verge of collapse, an elderly woman was carried by firemen from a smokefilled room in a burning house in Lukenui Read. Epsom, today. She was Mrs I. Wallace, housekeeper, who, with three children, was in the dwelling when a neighbour gave the alarm. The children, whose father is Mr K. F. Falkenstein, owner of the house, escaped without difficulty. Brigadesmcn were able to save only two rooms. Most of the furniture was destroyed.
