Child Brothers Among The Runs
In view of the Dargaville Shield match at Maungakaramea on Friday and Saturday, the fine batting of the Child brothers, Brian and Ellis, in the match against Maungakaramea Hockey Club on Saturday was particularly pleasing. Brian knocked up a fine 86 and Ellis 51 The first-named pasted the bowling and one of his sixers landed on the adjoining tennis courts. Scoring was very low on the tricky wicket at Taipuha. where Mangapai notched an outright win. The steady attack of Primrose and Shaw, which disposed of Maungatapere, was the feature of the game at Otaika. RESULTS AT A GLANCE Otaika 55 (T. Wallbank 19. D. CoxSmith 12; D. Bint, three lor 30), won on the first innings from Maungakaramea Hockey Club, 49 (B. Babe 18; E. Child, three lor 5; Lord, four for 20; R. Woolhouse. two for 4).
