Donor s Son To Visit Waitangi
WAITANGI, Mon. (Sp.).—This month the Hon. Hilary Bathurst is to visit the Waitangi National Trust properly, which his father, Lord Bledisloe, presented to New Zealand in 1932, when Governor General. The second son of Lord Bledisloe, Mr Bathurst, with his wife, arrived an New Zealand from Australia last week, accompanied by Mr E. C. Lysaght, joint manager of the British firm of John Lysaght Ltd., sheetmetal manufacturers, with which firm Mr Bathurst also is connected. Mr and Mrs Bathurst are to spend several days in the Bay of Islands, where they are expected about Janu-ary-23. KEEN FAMILY INTEREST By the terms of his father’s gift half of the 2500-acre estate constitutes the Waitangi National Reserve and the remainder is to be developed by the Forestry Department, a$ endowment land. Lord and Lady Bledisloe revisited the estate in March, 1947, and the keen family interest being taken in Waitangi is again proved by the pending arrival of Mr Bathurst.
