Naval Ceremonv
The ceremony of hoisting the flag on the staff directly in front of the Waitangi Treaty House will be repeated on the anniversary of the signing of the treaty, February 6 next. The Royal New Zealand Navy has undertaken responsibility for maintenance of the new flagstaff, which it reerected in 1947. On February 6 last year, in the presence cf an armed party from Bellona, the flag reached the top as the ship’s band played the last bar of the National Anthem. Commodore Simpson and the captain of the Bellona will be present at this year's commemoration, final arrangements for which are to be made at Waitangi by Commander Seely.
