Two Drowned At Moulin Of River
INVERCARGILL, Tue. (P.A.) A youth and a man were drowned at the mouth of New River Estuary about 3.30 o’clock last night. They were: Mr William Hall, aged 42, married, machinist, of 113 Miller Street. Colin Fraser, aged 131. of Morton Street. Fraser and Mr Hill were members of a flounder party operating with a net at the mouth of the estuary along the Oreti beach. Apparently the current caught the men. The "tide was coming in and the swell made any attempt at rescue difficult. It is estimated that the depth of water where the drowning occurred was about 30ft. So far the bodies have not been recovered.
