To Review Road Services
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Contract and tourist road services will be reviewed to save petrol. This was announced by the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr E. J. Phelan) today. Tourist service licences could be greatly reduced, he said, and some reductions probably could be made in contract services where vehicles were hired to travel great distances for sport or pleasure. There was no intention of reducing ordinary passenger services but he proposed introducing a policy of tourist licences being subject to control only by a recognised tourist agency.
