150 Aucklanders In Whangarei Today

INDOOR BASKETBALL

The biggest sporting invasion of Northland for some years occurred today, when 15 teams, totalling 150 players, arrived in Whangarei from Auckland to play basketball. They represented the Auckland Trades and Labour Council and their opponents were drawn from the Whangarei Indoor Basketball League, with one men’s team from Onerahi. The Aucklanders arrived shortly after midday by special buses and the games occupied all afternoon. This evening the visitors are to be the guests at a dance at the Town Hall being conducted by the Druids Lodge.
