Whangarei Women Win At Auckland
TABLE TENNIS
(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. The Auckland men’s B grade table tennis champion, K. Dwyer, and the runner-up, A. Wilkinson, were the only' players unbeaten when the country week tournament ended yesterday afternoon. .
Dwyer and Wilkinson were large responsible for Auckland’s win in the men’s competition, in which Suburbs was second, with Bay of Islands third and Whenuapai fourth. The women’s competition was won by the Whangarei team. Rotorua, Auckland and Bay of Islands finished equal on points, but were placed second, third and fourth respectively on the analysis of games won and lost. The tournament was concluded with a dance last night, at which the Mayor of Auckland (Mr J. A. C. Allum) presented the trophies won at the recent Auckland championships and in the country week tourney.
