Gardening Club's Daffodil Show

Spring flowers set a high standard ol merit at the Ladies’ Gardening Club daflodil shew held in the Whangarei Presbyterian Hall on September 1.

Mrs L. V. Willcocks spoke briefly on the distinguishing characteristics ot the 11 main varieties of dali'odils. She, herself, exhibited most oi the early varieties.

Points prizes were awarded as fol lows:—

Section 1: Daffodils.—Mrs R. H. Allan, 108 points. 1; Mrs W. M. Fraser, 56 points, 2; Mrs A. Cameron. 28 points. 8. Section 2: Cut Flowers. —Mrs E. Hay. 28 points, 1; Mrs L. V. Willcocks, 15 points, 2; and Mesdamcs K. V. Halliday, M. L. Sands and E. Campbell, 14 points each, 3 equal. Section 3: Decorative. —Mrs W. M. Fraser, 57 points, 1; Miss M. Maddren. 44 points, 2; D, Sands, 14 points, 4. A non-competitive exhibit of cut blooms and decorative items was staged by Mrs W. W. Logan.
